As part of the TechTown Koforidua initiative, Eastern Tech Hub organized a stakeholder meeting on Friday, December 15, 2023, to address transforming Koforidua into a tech enabled city in Ghana. Some Key attendees included the head of Traders and Fashion Designers, Regional Director for National Youth Authority, Koforidua Technical University, council of Pastors and Churches in Koforidua, Hubtel, Scynett, other Innovation Hubs among other stakeholders.

The TechTown Koforidua Stakeholder Meeting convened esteemed speakers and community representatives to deliberate on leveraging technology for advancing Koforidua. Dr. Benjamin Kwofie, from Koforidua Technical University, highlighted technology’s potential applications for the town’s overall development. Mr. Joseph emphasized establishing a comprehensive database, involving esteemed institutions like Koforidua Technical University and All Nations University to drive essential research for the TechTown initiative.
Junior stressed empowering the younger generation, uncovering their untapped potential for Koforidua’s growth. Additional discussions emphasized boosting local efforts and aiding traders in enhancing their technological skills. The meeting shed light on the prevalent lack of technological expertise among traders and the urgency of addressing youth illiteracy. Dr. Benjamin Kwofie emphasized strategic approaches involving research and tailored programs, citing successful models from other regions. Christian from Skynet Ghana highlighted infrastructure’s pivotal role in the initiative’s success. The engagement showcased diverse perspectives, including suggestions from the Local Youth Council of Churches to infuse technology into religious spheres for youth engagement and collaboration.
The stakeholders committed to fostering a digitally literate and technologically advanced Koforidua. The discussions laid the groundwork for a comprehensive action plan addressing research, training, database creation, infrastructure development, and youth engagement.
